The Kansas City Chiefs and Arrowhead Events are hosting the fifth-annual Red Wednesday Run presented by GEHA to coincide with the 33 rd year of the club's traditional Red Friday celebration. Red Wednesday will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 4 this year with the Chiefs opening the season at home against the Baltimore Ravens for the NFL Kickoff Game on Thursday, September 5.
This year's edition of the race remains virtual and will be part of festivities leading up to the start of the 2024 NFL season. Registration is now open at www.chiefs.com/red-wednesday/run with two registration options available.
As part of their race registration, participants will receive this year's special edition Super Bowl LVIII Champions Red Wednesday flag benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City (RMHC-KC) and a Red Wednesday Run t-shirt mailed directly to the address provided during registration. Additionally, all race participants will receive a seven-day all-access pass redeemable at either Chiefs Fit location.
With no official racecourse for this year's event, Chiefs fans throughout the country and all over the world can participate virtually with the option to complete the 5K however they choose, including running or walking in their neighborhood, in a local park, on a nature trail or from their treadmill.
While Wednesday, September 4 serves as the official day of the Red Wednesday Run, registration for the virtual race is open now and will close at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, September 6. Once participants complete the 5K, they're asked to take a photo in their Chiefs/Red Wednesday 5K gear with their flag and post on social media using #RedWednesday.
